This is the first time I'm aware of a "race" specific drug. The drug works better in the African-Americans than in whites. There is no idea yet if the difference is due to genetic differences but this a clear possibility.
Whatever the reason for this difference in the effect for this particular drug I think this type of possibly genotype specific drugs is going to increase a lot in the near future. The goals of cheap genome sequencing and personalized medicine will see to that.
